These machines are AWESOME! They are not for the serious gamer that needs a lot of intensive memory or extreme video. But as a good all around notebook with some pretty nifty features…It’s da’ Bomb! Touchscreens have been around since the early 90’s, so the technology is not new, but it has come a long way since then.

The new HP TouchSmart IQ770 PC is the first all-in-one PC based on Microsoft Windows Vista.   Each processing core has a 512 KB L2 cache (for a 1 MB total), and this processor can deliver up to a 1600 MHz system bus for lightning quick computing reflexes. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system’s performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)

• Hard Drive: The extra-large 320 GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive (7200 RPM) offers a wealth of storage space, perfect for storing a vast multimedia collection or for editing digital video. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data–akin to FireWire and USB 2.0.

  A built-in drive bay fits an optional HP Personal Media Drive (PMD), for up to 500 GB of additional storage that you can carry away with you when you go (PMD not included).

• Memory: The 2 GB of installed RAM (PC4200, 2 x 1 GB, 533 MHz) is a start, but you’ll want to add more RAM to handle today’s demanding multimedia and gaming software. This desktop has a 4 GB maximum RAM capacity (4 x 1 GB), perfect for high-def video and 3-D gaming.
• DVD/CD Drive: This multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with writing both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer (DL) DVD+/-R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. Screen, Video & Audio
The touch-enabled 19-inch widescreen BrightView LCD offers height/tilt adjustment for optimal viewing. It offers a native resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels, a contrast ratio of 850:1, brightness rating up to 300 nits, and a quick response time of 5 ms (milliseconds). The screen also has a vertical viewing angle of 160 degrees, horizontal viewing angle of 170 degrees, and a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Video is powered by the Nvidia GeForce 7600 graphics card, which was chosen by PC World magazine as one of the 100 Best Products of 2006 (July, 2006). It has 256 MB of video RAM. It features NVidia’s PureVideo technology–which provides great picture clarity, smooth video, accurate color, and precise image scaling for video content. It also offers full support for Microsoft DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 3.0 and true high dynamic-range (HDR) lighting. And it’s ready for the next step in graphics processing–SLI technology (Scalable Link Interface)–which delivers twice the performance of a single GPU configuration by allowing two graphics cards to run in parallel. The integrated audio card is configurable to 6-speaker surround sound, and it can provide two-channel audio via its integrated 12-watt speakers.

Are you kidding me? What’s not to love? This is a F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S computer. I’ve probably purchased 10 or more computers in the past 5 years and this is my hands down favorite. Easy set up, incredible screen, doesn’t take much desk space and it is LIGHTNING fast. I paid more than double this price for a top of the line Dell CPU only no screen or keyboard. I wish I could trade that for two of these! It’s so much faster. It feels and looks so different from a “normal” computer and there is nothing under the desk to bump my knee on. LOVE THAT. I spend 10 hours or more a day on the computer for work so this is just a treat. I’m not one to write reviews but this computer is worth telling people about. I love everything about it and think everyone should own one. Hey HP will ya’ send me another one for free if I spread the word?????
